How To Hit A Golf Ball Further
We all would like a longer drive in golf as it just feels so good to hear that smack as the club makes contact and starts to send that ball down the fairway.
A longer drive makes the game less tiring and more pleasurable not to mention the nice feeling of outdriving your golfing buddies.
In this article I will provide you with some tips that will help you get that extra few yards off the tee and improve your game all round.
1) Relax for greater distance
When we try to hit the ball further many of make the mistake of actually trying to hit the ball a longer distance by tensing up and putting more force into the golf swing. This is actually counterproductive as when we tense up we actually end up slowing down and getting less distance. So the key here is to relax and let the momentum of the club do the work. Try it and see how you get on.
2) Widen your stance
The more solid your structure is in golf the more likely you are to hit the ball further. What I would recommend is a stance that is slightly wider than shoulder width to give you a nice solid base in the ground. From here you can hit a more powerful shot.
3) Keep it flat
When your taking your drive on the back swing its good idea to sweep the club along the ground for about 20% of the motion. The result of this is that when the club strikes the ball on the down swing it gets a more gradual lift and direction rather than going up in the air quicker and losing distance.
